Senate Legal Committee Discusses Integrity Commission's 2024 Annual Report

 

Amman, July 21 - The Senate Legal Committee, chaired by Senator Ahmed Tabishat, discussed the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission's 2024 annual report during its meeting today, Monday. The meeting was attended by the Commission's Chairman, Dr. Muhannad Hijazi, and a number of Commission officials.

Senator Tabishat emphasized the committee's keenness to study the annual reports of oversight bodies and follow up on the recommendations and observations contained therein, in support of national efforts aimed at consolidating the integrity system and the rule of law. He praised the Commission's role in promoting a culture of accountability, transparency, and combating corruption.

He stated that financial and administrative corruption represents a serious challenge that requires concerted efforts and enhanced transparency and accountability. He pointed out the need to support legislation and oversight that protect public funds and enhance integrity in state institutions.

In turn, Hijazi, in the presence of his deputy, Sami Al-Salaita, and members of the Commission's board: Saad Al-Shehab, Hazem Al-Majali, and Nasser Al-Qadi, presented the Commission's achievements in protecting public funds and combating corruption over the past year.
He highlighted the Commission's efforts to develop work mechanisms through digital transformation and the use of artificial intelligence, in addition to its awareness-raising role and preventive measures to prevent violations, as well as the protection of witnesses and whistleblowers.

He emphasized the importance of cooperation between the Senate and the Commission to enhance performance and achieve national goals, noting the improvement in integrity indicators and a significant decrease in the number of complaints and reports received by the Commission, as a result of the preventive and proactive measures it is implementing.

For their part, the committee members emphasized the need to implement awareness and training programs to spread the culture of integrity and transparency through the media. They also highlighted the need for coordination between the Commission and other relevant entities to ensure complementary roles and achieve the desired impact in the field of combating corruption
