Amman – The Chairman of the Senate, Faisal Al-Fayez, emphasized the great attention His Majesty King Abdullah II gives to empowering Jordanian women and enhancing their role in society politically, economically, and socially.
Al-Fayez noted that, in line with His Majesty's directives to advance the role of Jordanian women, legal frameworks have been enacted to enable women to participate in political and partisan life. These legal provisions have also allocated seats for women in the House of Representatives and local governance councils.
This came during his meeting today at his office in the Senate building with an Arab parliamentary delegation consisting of Dr. Ahlam Al-Lafi, Chairwoman of the Women's Committee in the Arab Parliament, Bahraini MP Hanan Fardan, and Qatari Shura Council member Shaikha Al-Jufairi. The meeting was also attended by Khawla Al-Armouti, Chairwoman of the Women's Committee in the Senate, and committee members Asya Yaghi and Ihsan Barakat.
Al-Fayez praised the role of Arab women in the development process, reaffirming the Senate’s support for the Arab Parliament's important work in serving Arab causes and enhancing joint Arab parliamentary efforts.
In turn, the members of the Arab parliamentary delegation expressed their deep appreciation for the attention given to Jordanian women at all levels.
The delegation also praised Jordan's leadership under His Majesty King Abdullah II in defending just Arab causes, foremost among them the Palestinian cause, and the urgent need to stop the brutal Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
Additionally, the delegation expressed their pride in the support received by female members of the Senate from the Chairman of the Senate, and his ongoing efforts to provide the necessary resources to empower them in their oversight and legislative roles. They also highlighted the importance of showcasing their contributions at the national level across various sectors and supporting their participation in Arab and international parliamentary institutions.
