Amman, December 15 – The Media and National Guidance Committee in the Jordanian Senate, chaired by Senator Mohamed Daoudieh, met on Sunday with the Minister of Government Communication and Official Spokesperson of the Government, Dr. Mohamed Al-Momani, to discuss ways to enhance national media and empower it in the field of digital transformation.
Senator Daoudieh highlighted the importance of developing a vision for Jordanian media that considers the spirit of the times, serves the goals of the state, and reflects the conscience, identity, and aspirations of the nation and its people. He emphasized the need to enable Jordanian media outlets to compete with other media platforms.
In the presence of Senators Mahmoud Al-Freihat, Dr. Ammar Al-Qudah, and Sharhabil Madi, Daoudieh stressed the need to work on the government's speech to gain trust, which includes preparing a vision to advance, develop, and modernize media, and empower it in the transition to digital media. He also expressed the committee's readiness to support the government team in various areas.
For his part, Minister Al-Momani stated that national media plays an advanced role in defending the nation's interests and societal values in the face of various challenges, in addition to its vital role in conveying information and facts to citizens.
He pointed out that the government is working on encouraging media outlets to develop their tools for digital transformation, keeping pace with technological advancements, and benefiting from them. He emphasized that traditional media content production differs significantly from the production of modern digital content.
Al-Momani also mentioned that the age of speed and technological advancement necessitates the use of fast, concise, and accurate methods of delivering information to the audience. He stressed the importance of balancing freedom with responsibility, noting that this balance is closely tied to credibility, societal values, and national interests.
The minister emphasized that it is in the national interest to clarify Jordan's role in addressing the issues of the Arab world, particularly the Palestinian cause, and the advanced efforts made by Jordan and its leadership to support the Palestinian people and their right to a state and human dignity.
He concluded by reiterating that Jordan has always stood with the causes of the Arab world and the rights of its people. This is reflected in Jordan's position respecting the will of the Syrian people, reaffirming the importance of Syria's security, stability, sovereignty, and the continuity of its institutions.
