Senate Labor Committee Participates in Arab Labor Conference

Amman, April 19 – The Senate Labor and Development Committee, chaired by Senator Issa Murad, participated in the 51st session of the Arab Labor Conference, which began today, Saturday, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

The Labor Committee participated in the conference, which is chaired by Yemen, as part of a Jordanian delegation headed by Minister of Labor Dr. Khaled Al-Bakkar, and included the committee's rapporteur, Senator Fadel Al-Hamoud, and representatives of employers and workers.

Senator Murad stated that the conference, which continues until the 23rd of this month, represents an important historical milestone, as it coincides with the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Arab Labor Organization, according to a statement from the Senate.

He explained that the conference represents a great opportunity to strengthen cooperation frameworks, exchange expertise, and achieve effective partnerships, especially as it brings together representatives of the three parties involved in production (government, employers, and workers) in Arab countries.

He pointed out that the committee's participation in the conference discussions, which bring together the three production stakeholders, addresses a range of vital issues and items with significant impact on labor markets and workers' issues, which are at the core of the committee's work and objectives.

He stated that economic diversification, public-private sector partnerships, the Arab Entrepreneurship Strategy project, and the role of comprehensive social policies in promoting economic integration, reducing poverty, and achieving sustainable development will contribute to ensuring a suitable and sustainable work environment in the Arab world.

Mr. Murad commended the conference's honoring of a number of labor and labor representatives in the Arab world, including Minister of Labor Dr. Al-Bakkar and a representative of the Jordanian Trade Union Federation, Fathallah Al-Omrani.
