Amman, January 7 - The Culture, Youth and Sports Committee in the Senate, headed by Senator Dr. Haifa Al-Najjar, reviewed during its meeting today, Tuesday, with the Director General of the Royal Film Commission - Jordan, Muhannad Al-Bakri, the Commission's plans to promote Jordanian culture and its programs to support youth and talents.
Senator Al-Najjar spoke, in the presence of Raja Gargour, a member of the Commission's Board of Directors, about the necessity of providing all forms of support to Jordanian youth and talents due to their distinguished role in presenting various forms of art.
She pointed out the necessity of supporting the Jordanian national narrative through the film industry and films and publishing them locally, regionally and internationally, which contributes to refining the culture of individuals and building bridges of communication with different societies.
Senator Al-Najjar praised the efforts of the Commission, which enjoy the support of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Highness Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Commission, and Her Highness Princess Rym Ali, a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Commission, for the Commission's role in supporting the tourism, cultural and economic fields, which provides an integrated artistic and creative project.
In turn, Al-Bakri said that the Commission is working to build national competencies, spread culture, and provide job opportunities in the field of filmmaking and provides support through the Commission's Jordan Fund to support films, stressing the importance of filmmaking and its significant contribution to promoting Jordan as a tourist destination.
He pointed out the establishment of the Jordan Film Academy in cooperation with the German Jordanian University, which aims to enhance the field of filmmaking, contribute to the development of cinematic culture in the Kingdom, and develop training programs to enable all segments of society to make films.
In turn, Gargour, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jordan Studios "Olivewood", said that the studios, which were inaugurated by His Majesty King Abdullah II, are an achievement of one of the goals of the creative industries sector axis in the economic modernization vision.
He pointed out that they are the first film studios in the Kingdom with international standards, noting that most international films were filmed in southern Jordan, especially in Wadi Rum, Petra and Aqaba, with the participation of the most famous stars from different countries of the world.
For their part, the dignitaries stressed the need to support the Commission, in light of the successes it has achieved in promoting Jordanian tourism internationally and developing a Jordanian film industry capable of competing globally, and that providing support enables the Commission to perform its role and achieve its goals in the best possible way.
