Amman, February 18 - A joint Senate committee consisting of the "Culture, Youth and Sports" committee, headed by Senator Dr. Haifa Al-Najjar, and the "National Youth Dialogue" committee, headed by Senator Dr. Mahasen Al-Jaghoub, met today, Tuesday, with Youth Minister Eng. Yazan Al-Shadifat.
Al-Najjar said during the meeting, which was attended by Acting Secretary-General of the Ministry of Youth Dr. Yassin Al-Halil, that the meeting was held to discuss the executive plans and programs of the Ministry of Youth and the reality of youth centers.
She stressed the need to develop youth skills, build their capacities, invest their energies, and enhance the role of youth centers in the Kingdom by developing their programs, preparing infrastructure, and empowering their workers.
For her part, Al-Jaghoub stressed the interest of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II in youth and supporting them, noting the importance of empowering youth, especially in the fields of leadership and innovation, and supporting them and harnessing their energies in construction and development.
She said that the meeting aims to review the strategic plans that the ministry is working on preparing related to youth, especially after declaring Amman the capital of Arab youth for the year 2025.
For his part, Shadifat said that the letter of the royal assignment to the government carried within it a penetrating vision and great interest in youth, which reflects the important position that youth occupy within national priorities.
He explained that the royal speech emphasized empowering youth and preparing them for the future, building youth capacities and developing their skills in line with technological development and future jobs.
He reviewed the programs and projects implemented by the ministry within the framework of empowering youth and enhancing their participation in political, economic and social life, and its plan to activate youth centers, establish business incubators, support youth initiatives, programs to empower youth with English language skills, and awareness programs to protect youth from the scourge of drugs and electronic recruitment.
Shadifat pointed out that the ministry is in the process of preparing the National Youth Strategy for the years 2026-2030, which is based on translating the royal directives and meeting the needs and aspirations of youth.
He pointed out that work is underway to develop an executive plan for the activities of Amman, the Capital of Arab Youth 2025, and to launch the executive plan for the Arab Strategy for Youth, Peace and Security, which will witness several programs and diverse activities that highlight the Jordanian youth experience and Jordanian efforts in translating UN Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security, which was the result of the efforts of His Highness Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, Crown Prince, during his chairing of the Security Council session and his submission of the draft resolution in 2015.
For their part, the attending senators spoke about the importance of creating initiatives, programs and projects that serve youth and support their orientations, pointing out the need for youth to participate in activities and events that contribute to their active participation and enhance their role in society.
They pointed to the major role played by youth centers in the Kingdom in their connection with a wide segment of society and youth, stressing the importance of working to strengthen the Jordanian national identity by introducing programs and activities that consolidate the values of belonging and loyalty.
