On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Al al-Bayt University organized a seminar titled "Enhancing the Leadership of People with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future."
The seminar was held by the Faculty of Educational Sciences at Al al-Bayt University and featured the participation of Senate member, Her Excellency Asia Yagi. The event took place in the Centennial Hall at the Faculty of Educational Sciences.
Her Excellency Asia Yagi expressed her gratitude to the university, noting that the organization of this seminar reflects the increasing understanding that disability is part of the human condition, and people with disabilities should play an active role in society. She discussed the challenges faced by this group and emphasized the need for their inclusion in public work. She also expressed her appreciation for His Majesty the King and his high vision, acknowledging the honor of being appointed to the Senate as a tribute to representing this community, carrying the message of humanity with integrity, driven by her love and dedication to the homeland and its wise leadership.
Professor Yusuf Al-Muqaddadi, Dean of the Faculty, emphasized that the seminar was in line with the university's strategic plan, which believes in the importance of caring for people with disabilities and providing the necessary means for a dignified life within a safe environment. He pointed out that the presence of prominent figures and successful models in public positions is part of the Hashemite leadership's vision for this group.
For his part, Professor Ihsan Al-Khalidi highlighted the importance of legislation for persons with disabilities, the legislative framework, and the need to monitor it. He stressed the importance of specialized awareness programs, forming partnerships with international organizations, and empowering individuals in personal, economic, political, educational, and integration aspects, as well as capacity building.
At the end of the seminar, which was organized by Dr. Iyad Hamadneh, Chair of the Respiratory and Special Education Department, and moderated by Dr. Maysa Talilan, the attendees engaged in a thorough dialogue and discussion. The panelists answered questions and comments from the audience.
