Speech of His Excellency the President of the Senate, Faisal El-Fayez, during the official celebration of the 79th Independence Day of the Kingdom at Al Husseiniya Palace

In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
And peace and blessings be upon the trustworthy Arab Hashemite Prophet.

Your Majesty, Abu Al-Hussein,
Your Royal Highness, Prince Al-Hussein,

This is the 79th Independence Day of our Hashemite Jordanian Kingdom, and this is our leader, Abu Al-Hussein, who crowns our heads with the Hashemite diadem. The national flag flies high in the skies of our homeland—proudly, nobly, and with dignity—guarded by the strong arms and the unwavering will of our loyal sons. Together, the crown and the flag symbolize our unified Jordanian identity—an identity we hold in the highest esteem and for which we are willing to sacrifice our very souls.

Your Majesty, Leader of the Nation,

On this Independence Day, we remember the founding King and martyr, Abdullah I Ibn Al-Hussein, who built this great nation brick by brick during a difficult time, when the road was rough and the journey harsh—until he attained martyrdom in the cause of God at the gate of the First Qibla (Jerusalem), defending the noble principles that the righteous Hashemite family has believed in since the first bullet was fired by the leader of the Arab Revolt, King Sharif Hussein bin Ali. These principles have been carried by sons and grandsons ever since, and the Hashemites shall continue to carry them with courage, heroism, and sacrifice—alongside the loyal and devoted people of Jordan.

Today, Your Majesty, we say: what Jordan needs now are true men—dedicated, committed, and steadfast—who can build upon what has already been achieved.

We stand in reverence, with the rise of every sun, before the framer of our Constitution, King Talal bin Abdullah. And with great pride, we bow before the builder of modern Jordan, King Hussein bin Talal, whose remarkable achievements spanned over half a century.

Your Majesty,

On this cherished occasion, we extend to Your Majesty our deepest respect, appreciation, and affection for your blessed efforts that have enabled us to cross into the new century and enter the age of modernity—with all its challenges. Under your wise leadership, Jordan has achieved great accomplishments despite the turbulent regional context and our limited resources.

Despite the many regional challenges, Your Majesty has never been distracted from the Palestinian cause—a cause close to the heart of every honorable Jordanian. You have carried it with you wherever you went. It has dominated your discussions with world leaders. You were the first to offer aid and alleviate the suffering of our people in Gaza. And although the spiteful, the ungrateful, and the slanderers have tried to question Jordan’s positions and sacrifices, we say to them: this sacred land, always devoted to its Arab nation, will remain proud, dignified, and pure—rising above idle chatter and false claims.

Your Majesty, Abu Al-Hussein,

Our eternal greetings, love, appreciation, and unmatched pride go to our great Arab Army—the Hashemite Army—which, since the founding of our state by your martyr grandfather, has been the only Arab army to proudly bear this blessed name. It is us, and we are it. Alongside it stand all our security agencies in their various names and roles—they are the most truthful in word, the most loyal in deed, the standard-bearers with ever-raised foreheads. They are the guardians of the homeland and the journey.

"These troops have come to you willingly,
With guiding stars on their right as their oath.
They are your soldiers, their resolve unshaken,
With your determination, by God, they are fortified."

Your Majesty,

How beautiful it is to learn from our history and our present, so that we may, God willing, build our future. As we celebrate the great achievements since independence, we stand with you and behind you, Abu Al-Hussein, looking to the future—to overcome challenges and amplify accomplishments—with your determination and will, and the unity of your noble, steadfast people.

We pledge to remain faithful and loyal, like our fathers and forefathers before us, to safeguard our precious Jordan—a fortified homeland, resilient like the oak tree, its roots deep in the soil and its branches reaching to the heavens.

May God protect you, Your Majesty, and safeguard His Royal Highness the Crown Prince.

Peace and God’s mercy and blessings be upon you.
