Amman, April 29 – President of the Senate, Faisal El-Fayez, met today, Tuesday, with a number of presidents and representatives of parliamentary, advisory, and senate councils on the sidelines of the Third Parliamentary Conference on South-South Cooperation, which began Monday in Rabat, the capital of Morocco.
During the meetings—which were attended by Assistant Senate President Suhair Al-Ali and Jordan’s Ambassador to Morocco Jumana Ghunaimat—El-Fayez discussed bilateral relations between Jordan and their respective countries, ways to enhance and develop them, and current regional developments, especially the Palestinian issue and the brutal Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
El-Fayez met with President of the Egyptian Senate, Counselor Abdel Wahab Abdel Razek, where they reviewed regional developments and explored ways to bolster bilateral ties, particularly in economic, investment, and parliamentary fields.
El-Fayez stressed the depth of Jordanian-Egyptian relations based on mutual respect, shared interests, and the service of just Arab causes. He noted that these ties are strong thanks to the keenness of His Majesty King Abdullah II and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to develop and deepen them across various sectors.
Both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining joint coordination to confront Israeli aggression and the expansionist policies of the occupying power, and to continue working together to stop the aggression on the Palestinian people in Gaza and the occupied West Bank and to secure their legitimate rights.
El-Fayez also met with President of the Federal National Council of the UAE, Saqr Ghobash, to discuss ways to enhance Jordanian-Emirati relations in a way that serves the mutual interests of both nations and peoples.
He emphasized the strength of the brotherly ties between the two countries, built on firm foundations and mutual respect, and highlighted the efforts of King Abdullah II and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to advance cooperation in political, economic, and parliamentary domains.
The meeting included a discussion on the broader regional situation and ways to increase coordination and cooperation between the two nations, as well as efforts to face regional challenges and restore peace and stability to the region.
Ghobash praised the distinguished level of UAE-Jordan relations, describing them as historic and founded on mutual respect, reaffirming a shared commitment to further strengthening these ties.
El-Fayez also met with President of the Bahraini Shura Council, Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh, where they explored avenues for expanding the solid Jordanian-Bahraini relationship in all fields, especially political, parliamentary, and economic sectors.
El-Fayez underscored the importance of coordinating joint parliamentary action between the Jordanian Senate and the Bahraini Shura Council in order to serve the aspirations of Arab peoples and shared national interests, as well as promoting Arab solidarity to confront regional challenges.
Al-Saleh commended the strong cooperation and coordination between Amman and Manama, particularly in political affairs and other shared concerns.
The meeting addressed the current state of Arab parliamentary work and its role in facing the challenges confronting the Arab and Islamic worlds.
Additionally, El-Fayez met with President of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi, to discuss enhancing Arab parliamentary efforts to serve just Arab causes and unify the positions of Arab parliaments and senates in international parliamentary forums on issues of mutual concern.
The meeting also focused on strengthening parliamentary relations between the Jordanian Senate and the Arab Parliament, maintaining coordination on matters related to Arab parliamentary work, and advancing the role of legislative bodies, particularly under the current challenging political and security conditions.
El-Fayez also held talks with Secretary-General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), Sergio Piazzi, to discuss bolstering parliamentary cooperation between the Jordanian Senate and PAM and the importance of continuing bilateral meetings to strengthen parliamentary ties.
El-Fayez reaffirmed the Senate’s commitment to engaging with issues of mutual concern discussed within PAM, especially since Jordan holds the position of Vice President of the Assembly and chairs the committee on economic, social, and environmental cooperation.
