Amman, May 27 - The Senate Energy and Mineral Resources Committee, chaired by Engineer Farouq Al-Hiyari, met on Tuesday with representatives of the Association of Companies Working in Renewable Energy and Energy Management.
During the meeting, the committee discussed promoting investment in renewable energy, energy management efficiency, and promising initiatives that would contribute to job creation.
Al-Hiyari stated that technological developments in the electric power industry and the introduction of the concept of electric energy storage will reduce the cost of electricity.
He explained that this requires intensifying efforts to complete the updating and development of legislation regulating the sector, issuing the necessary specifications and standards for expanding the storage of electric energy produced from renewable energy systems, and encouraging investment in green hydrogen projects in the Kingdom. This will enhance the security and stability of electric power and increase reliance on the green economy.
For their part, the association's representatives reviewed the possibility of leveraging their expertise in developing national specifications and standards for storage systems, expanding renewable energy and electric energy storage projects, green hydrogen projects, and addressing the sector's challenges.
They affirmed the association's readiness to fully cooperate with the relevant official authorities to achieve the goals of the General Electricity Law of 2025.
The senators discussed the importance of networking with the private sector to encourage investment in the renewable energy sector in particular and the energy sector in general, and to create national initiatives that contribute to creating job opportunities, enhancing energy security, and reducing energy costs.
