The President of the Senate, Faisal al-Fayez, meets with his counterpart, the President of the French Senate, Gérard Larcher

Paris – The President of the Senate, Faisal al-Fayez, called on the European Union countries to reject any plan proposed to resolve the Palestinian issue at the expense of Jordan's national constants or at the expense of Jordan's security and stability.

Al-Fayez affirmed Jordan's rejection of the forced displacement of Palestinians, and that Jordan will not allow its homeland to be a substitute for the Palestinians or a battleground for any party.

This came during the discussions held by al-Fayez today in Paris with his counterpart, the President of the French Senate, Gérard Larcher, in the presence of Senators Salama Hamad, Haifa al-Najjar, and Issa Murad, as well as the Jordanian Ambassador to Paris, Lina al-Hadid. The discussions focused on ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, cooperation, and coordination to overcome the repercussions and conflicts in the Middle East region, and to stop the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.

Al-Fayez, who is on an official visit to France at the invitation of the President of the French Senate, praised the depth of Jordanian-French relations, which are based on mutual respect and serve the common interests of the two friendly countries.

He added, "There is a strong desire from His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Excellency French President Emmanuel Macron to develop bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, and to find political solutions to various conflicts in the Middle East region."

Al-Fayez emphasized the importance of finding more economic and investment partnerships between Jordan and France, increasing cooperation and trade exchange in various fields, and urged French investors to take advantage of the investment opportunities available in Jordan in various sectors, particularly in tourism, renewable energy, modern technology, food security, water, and public transport projects. He stressed that Jordan enjoys a secure and stable investment environment.

Al-Fayez called for France to play a greater role within the European Union to work on increasing joint investments with Jordan, enabling it to face economic challenges resulting from the ongoing events in our region. He explained that standing by Jordan is in everyone's interest, as Jordan is a cornerstone of stability and peace in the Middle East, and any threat to its security and stability will have repercussions for everyone.

Regarding the current situation in the region, al-Fayez clarified that the Middle East is suffering from conflicts and political crises, the latest of which is the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. He stated that the Israeli occupation has continued its brutal crimes against the Palestinian people for nearly eight decades and is now committing war crimes and waging a genocidal war against the Palestinians, disregarding all international legitimacy decisions, humanitarian, and ethical standards. At the same time, he noted that Israel refuses to respond to international calls to stop the war and allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, which is undergoing a systematic process of starvation and ethnic cleansing.

The President of the Senate also pointed out that His Majesty King Abdullah II has continuously warned of the consequences of Israel's failure to comply with international legitimacy resolutions, emphasizing that His Majesty has made it clear to everyone that security and stability in the region will only be achieved through the two-state solution and Israel's commitment to implementing the decisions of international legitimacy.

He called on the international community to support the efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II to stop the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and his continuous efforts to achieve a just peace in the region, and to deliver sufficient humanitarian aid to Gaza. He also stressed the need to support His Majesty's efforts to create a political horizon for achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, which enables the Palestinian people to obtain their legitimate rights.

Al-Fayez emphasized the importance of various international parliamentary institutions taking responsibility and fulfilling their moral and legal role in protecting the Palestinian people, praising France's positions in support of just Arab causes and its support for Jordan and its stance on achieving peace in the Middle East.

For his part, the President of the French Senate, Gérard Larcher, praised the significant role played by His Majesty King Abdullah II in ending the conflict in the Middle East and achieving peace in the region.

He pointed to the depth of French-Jordanian relations, stressing that Jordan represents a central pillar for stability and security in the Middle East.

He also praised Jordan's role in providing a dignified life for Syrian refugees, stressing the importance of continuing to support Jordan and assisting it in continuing its humanitarian role in caring for refugees and maintaining security and stability in the Middle East, as well as combating extremism and terrorism.

He added that the French Senate will direct French companies to enhance French investments in Jordan and increase the number of French tourists, noting that his country is also interested in increasing these investments, particularly in water desalination, the tourism sector, and training tour guides in mountain climbing and archaeological excavation.
