Amman, January 15 - The Senate's Arab, International and Expatriate Affairs Committee discussed regional developments during its meeting today, Wednesday, headed by Senator Dr. Hani Al-Mulki.
Mulki praised the positions of His Majesty King Abdullah II, which support Arab issues in general and the Palestinian cause in particular, and his efforts to stop the Israeli war on Gaza and achieve a comprehensive calm in the region.
He pointed out that His Majesty affirmed Jordan's support for Syria in building a free, independent state with full sovereignty, and that the Kingdom is discussing with the new authority in Damascus mechanisms for cooperation in the fields of energy, water, trade, and security.
Mulki explained that the Jordanian position towards Syria sided with the will of the Syrian people, and expresses the sincerity of relations between the two countries, and supports its security, territorial integrity, and the stability of its institutions, which positively reflects on the interests of the Jordanian state and consolidates the security of its borders.
For their part, the committee members stressed the need to hold meetings and maintain communication and coordination with Syria, to strengthen relations and means of joint cooperation, in a way that serves the common interests of both countries and the two brotherly peoples.
