Amman, May 27 - The Senate Labor and Social Development Committee, chaired by Senator Issa Murad, reviewed the annual report issued by the Jordanian Workers' Center on labor market conditions and workers' rights for the year 2024 on Tuesday.
Murad, in the presence of the center's president, Dr. Hamada Abu Nijmeh, said that the meeting was held to review the report and its indicators related to the Jordanian labor market.
He added that the committee aims to study the report to gain a deeper understanding of the reality of the labor market, economic participation, and workers' rights, as well as the importance of these indicators and their connection to international standards.
For his part, Abu Nijmeh reviewed the report's most prominent features and key themes related to labor market conditions, pointing to employment policies, job opportunities, and population growth, and the consistency of these indicators and figures in the report with the Economic Modernization Vision.
He explained that the report reviews the reality of employment, unemployment, working conditions, social protection, union organization, and economic participation. He noted that the report clarifies the reality of labor rights and their connection to the legislation regulating those rights. It also highlights a number of standards in the Jordanian labor market and their compatibility with international standards.
Abu Nijmeh emphasized that the report includes an in-depth analysis and scientific recommendations that contribute to placing the labor sector at the forefront of public policy priorities as a gateway to promoting sustainable development and achieving economic and social stability.
He stated that the Workers' House aims to issue the report as a reference tool for decision-makers, labor unions, civil society organizations, and researchers, to support the formulation of more effective, just, and sustainable policies.
For their part, committee members commended the efforts of the Workers' House in preparing the report, emphasizing the importance of health care and job security in motivating Jordanian workers.
During its meeting, the committee approved the report's recommendation to develop a national employment policy that promotes economic participation and stimulates economic growth.
