Amman, May 6 - Her Royal Highness Princess Reem Ali, member of the Board of Commissioners of the Royal Film Commission (RFC), received Senator Haifa Najjar, Chair of the Senate Culture, Youth, and Sports Committee, and members of the committee, on Tuesday at Olivewood Studios.
According to a press release issued by the RFC, during the meeting, Her Royal Highness Princess Reem gave a comprehensive briefing on Olivewood Studios and its vital role in supporting the film industry in Jordan, both economically and culturally. The meeting was attended by RFC Director General Muhannad Al-Bakri and Olivewood Chairman Raja Gargour.
The meeting included an introductory tour of the studios' facilities, where the technical capabilities they provide for local and international film production were reviewed.
Her Royal Highness reviewed the RFC's activities, noting the positive impact the film industry has had on enhancing Jordanian cultural identity and generating added economic value.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to provide additional support to this sector, emphasizing the importance of highlighting the Jordanian narrative through cinematic works.
The discussion also addressed technology and intellectual property rights, and included a brief overview of the Amman International Film Festival – First Film, a prominent platform for supporting Jordanian and Arab talent in the film industry.
Her Royal Highness stressed the importance of integrating filmmaking within cultural and educational contexts, given its impact on building a creative and empowered generation.
For her part, Senator Haifa Najjar praised the RJCB's efforts and its role in supporting the tourism, cultural, and economic sectors, providing a comprehensive creative artistic project.
She emphasized the importance of providing support to the RJCB, given its successes in promoting Jordanian tourism internationally and developing a globally competitive Jordanian film industry.
She highlighted the need to support the Jordanian national narrative through the film industry and disseminating it locally, regionally, and internationally, as this contributes to refining individual culture and building bridges of communication with different communities through the diverse content it provides.
For their part, the attending senators emphasized the need to strengthen the partnership between the Commission, the private sector, and all relevant stakeholders, contributing to establishing Jordan as a regional hub for the creative content industry, enabling the Commission to fulfill its pivotal role in developing this vital sector, and achieving its goals of supporting Jordanian national talent.
