Amman, January 12 - His Majesty King Abdullah II affirmed on Sunday that Jordan is moving forward on implementing modernization paths despite regional challenges, noting the importance of the Senate’s role in partnership with the House of Representatives and the government in this regard.
During his meeting at Al Husseiniya Palace with the Senate Permanent Bureau, which includes the Senate’s president, two vice presidents and his assistants, His Majesty stressed that Jordan is continuing to coordinate with brothers and allies on regional developments to protect its interests and achieve regional stability.
His Majesty, in the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, also stressed the importance of stopping the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip and achieving a comprehensive calm in the region.
His Majesty referred to Jordan’s efforts to sustain relief aid to Gaza, and called on the international community to contribute to enhancing the humanitarian response.
Speaking about developments in the West Bank, His Majesty the King stressed the need to stop unilateral measures targeting the Palestinians and Jerusalem.
His Majesty reiterated Jordan's support for Syria in building a free, independent and fully sovereign state, indicating that the Kingdom is discussing with the new authority in Damascus mechanisms for cooperation in the fields of energy, water, trade and security.
For his part, Senate President Faisal Al-Fayez stressed the Senate's keenness to communicate with citizens in their various locations to discuss local affairs and developments in the region, stressing the need to protect the homeland and defend its interests.
Members of the Senate's permanent office made interventions on the importance of partnership with the government and the House of Representatives in working to serve the homeland and citizens, and continuing the modernization process on its three tracks, in addition to regional challenges.
The meeting was attended by Chief of the Royal Hashemite Court Yousef Hassan Al-Issawi and Director of His Majesty's Office Eng. Alaa Batayneh.
